History
A layered past
The valley was the cradle of the Kokand Khanate and, two thousand years earlier, the home of the 'heavenly horses' Han China sent armies to acquire. The towns of Margilan and Rishtan have made silk and ceramics continuously for more than a millennium.

April–June and September. Cotton harvest in October has a quiet beauty if you don't mind warm afternoons.

How do I get in?+
The scenic option is the Kamchik pass road (5h). Faster: fly Tashkent → Fergana (1h).

Yes — Yodgorlik factory in Margilan runs open workshops every morning. We arrange master demos privately.
Is it conservative?+
More traditional than Tashkent, but tourists are warmly received. Women should have shoulders and knees covered at religious sites.
