The Hissar range is Uzbekistan's real mountain country — glacial cirques, meltwater rivers, and peaks that make for serious but attainable summit weeks. Our basecamps are comfortable; the terrain isn't.
Traditional Uzbek shepherd camps still summer here; expect fresh yoghurt, wild-flower honey, and evenings around a wood stove.
History
A layered past
The Hissar mountains form Uzbekistan's southeastern border with Tajikistan. The range is geologically part of the western Pamirs; several peaks sit above 4,500 m. Soviet-era climbing camps set the standard for expedition logistics that we still use today.

When to come
Late June to early September for high-altitude expeditions. May–June and September for lower valleys.
